The last few weeks have been filled with preparations for the Baden Storytellers’ Guild (BSG) World Storytelling Day (WSD) Concert. Here I am telling my WSD story at the BSG Zoom Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, March 4. Thanks to Paul Caulfield for sharing this image with me. Gordon Stubley and I are organizing the concert and the efforts of many Guild members to pull it all togetherThe concert itself takes place on Zoom one week from today on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Please email me if you are interested in attending.
I am preparing for the Storytellers’ of Canada - Conteurs du Canada (SC-CC) Conference. I am very pleased to share that my mentor, Judy Caulfield, will be going with me to the conference!
I have chosen the story I will tell at the conference. At our first Zoom meeting, Judy led me through a guided visualization to explore the main character of the story. Since then, we have both been busy with our World Storytelling Day Concert preparations. I am working independently to explore my chosen story for the conference.
Each day, I read aloud for 10 minutes to improve my breathing, pacing, and voice strength. Twice a week, I set aside 30 minutes to work on specific activities. For example, on Sunday, February 26, I typed out one version of my story, and on Tuesday, February 28, I worked on a visualization exercise to explore the opening scene.
There are two recipients of the award this year. Laxmi Balaji is also a recipient of the Emerging Storyteller Award and will be mentored by Mariella Bertelli. Congratulations, Laxmi!
In addition to the blogs I have already posted, Judy Caulfield and Carolyn Wilker are helping me to create a list of ideas for future blog posts. Is there something you would like to see a blog post about? Please share your thoughts in the comments, and I will do my best to answer.
